Whilst I have dealt with this sort of planning structure previously, it is still a challenge to come up with essential questions and then other pertinent scenarios to develop the question.

the unit on water I intend to plan is a start from scratch sort of issue… damn!!
    Thanks.

Revisiting the basics of questioning techniques and how we get students to do more than just paste information is really worthwhile. I found the essential question approach very difficult initially with VET Con as the course is so prescribed.

I agree with Andrew. The need to insist that students answer questions that require more than a cursory reply is essential. It even helps to build rapport and tone in a class setting. Let’s think, how successful was Socrates with that style of learning and personal challenge.

The other issue with effective questioning and learning is the need to scaffold students into tasks.. storyboards, flow charts etc.

A great day- helps when you spend most of the time there. Really anjoyed the Publisher task, haven’t used it for a while and can see some great potential for it that I would never have thought of previously.

Realy enjoyed the challenge of developing a task in pub- so simple to do the web page- will definitely use this in the future!
